Our popular Jazz at Jamison sessions for the year conclude with banjoist – Chris Gildersleeve and his Delta Jazz Band.
Hailing from Sydney, this successful traditional jazz band has been together for some twenty years and it is one of only a handful of bands to hold down a long-term residency, currently playing twice-monthly at Sydney’s Lane Cove Bowling Club.
This six-piece band of seasoned professionals focusses on swinging New Orleans revival jazz, in other words, the music that evolved from the melting pot of music genres that was New Orleans jazz in the 1920’s and 1930’s.
Joining Chris will be Wally Temple, reeds; David Cant, cornet/trombone; Gary Kohrmann, double bass; Beverley Baychek, vocals; and special guest Colin Beale, reeds.
This will be a great afternoon of swinging early traditional jazz made all the more authentic by the sultry vocals of gospel singer Bev Baychek.
