Please find attached the latest edition of the CJC newsletter for your information. Of particular note is the next ‘Jazz at Jamison’ gig on Sunday 8 April. Pianist John Black has always had a Count Basie tribute show in mind and ‘Jazz at Jamison’ has given him the opportunity to work up a show. He has always, too, had great respect for our Patron, Paul Furniss, who gave John his first jazz instruction at the Sydney Conservatorium and he was thrilled that Paul agreed to join him for the launch of his “Basie & Beyond” show.
Our Jamison gigs are becoming popular with regular members of the CSCC so we have upped the numbers of seats reserved for the CJC to 50. It was interesting to note that at the March gig, many of our members chose to sit at separate tables away from the CJC group of tables and quite a few seats were not used on the jazz tables. We’ll monitor that and see how it goes.
So, here’s to an afternoon of great swing jazz in the Count Basie style next Sunday.
Yours in jazz
