The “Roaring 20s” comes to ‘Jazz at Jamison’ in January with the welcome return of renowned trumpeter Geoff Power and his Great Gatsby Orchestra.

Kicking off another fabulous year of monthly entertainment at Jamison, this acclaimed 11-piece orchestra delivers hot jazz, dance music and novelty songs from the 1920s and 1930s and into the Swing Era.

You’ll hear music from Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, Fats Waller, Lu Watters, to name a few, plus tributes to the great Australian bands and players such as Graeme Bell’s All Stars.

Geoff Power is one of this country’s most accomplished jazz musicians and his Great Gatsby Orchestra is a project dear to his heart with 5 members of his very talented family joining him in the line-up. Geoff Power’s Great Gatsby Orchestra has two critically acclaimed albums to their credit, Jubilee Stomp in 2016 and Shake That Thing in June 2021. Geoff models this much-in-demand band on the famous Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks orchestra based in New York, but as he notes, without a violin.

A regular member of the orchestra is the young virtuoso pianist and specialist in stride and ragtime piano styles, Robbie Mann. Special guest of the day will be the brilliant reeds player, Paul Furniss, another of this country’s jazz icons.

Don’t miss what will be an exceptional musical experience of the highest order!
